MobilGreen Precast was developed to fill a void in the Precast/Prestress Concrete Industry. As a general contractor, my Company had many opportunities to sub contract with individuals within the industry. As we moved across the country we found that pricing fluctuated drastically from region to region. We knew what our repetitive style building should cost, so we looked for the reasons why the costs varied. The major factor was our proximity to the producer of the components we required.
Having the opportunity to build a LEED project in Austin, Texas, pushed our concept into reality. Building a LEED project brought all of the environmental issues of construction into the discussion. Why would we want to ship a large number of heavy structural components over great distances? Look at all of the fuel required to deliver the project. An average sized project could have the requirements of 300 loads to deliver.
In good times or bad, the cost of shipping was a major factor in the price of the project. As we all strive to leave the earth inhabitable for future generations, this waste of fuel had to be altered. We developed small/mobile plants that we could move into the areas of our projects and reduce both the cost of the project and the cost to the environment.
We have set up our Mobile plants in 11 different states across the nation. We have produced over 4.2 million square feet of DT, beams, and columns. We have maintained daily production with our plants thru all different seasons and weather regions. And we have maintained QC standards equal to the levels established for stationary plants.
We believe that our model of Precasting will increase the use of precast in the construction industry. The cost of delivery for many projects makes precast a more expensive than other structural solution. We also know that because of Precasts inherent green qualities, use of recycled materials, local material, speed of construction, and less site disturbance, that Precast is one of the greenest systems available. We make it Greener, and we make it the economical choice as well.
